Contact

We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out anytime, and thank you for giving us a few business days to reply. Most of our time is joyfully spent making new books. Have a question? You might find the answer in our FAQ below.

Frequently asked questions

What is the return policy?

We want you to love your book. Every edition is made by hand in our small studio, and while we take great care, sometimes a mistake can slip past our eyes. If something isn’t right, please let us know — we’ll make it right.

How long do I have?

You have 14 days from delivery to request a return.

What condition should items be in?

Books must be unused and in new condition, with all inserts (Trace Log pages and sticker sheet) included.

How do I start a return?

Email hello@tracethelivingword.com with your order number. We’ll send you a Return Authorization (RMA) and the return address in Orange, CA. Please wait for these details before sending anything back.

Who pays for return shipping?

Unless your order arrived damaged or incorrect, return postage is the buyer’s responsibility. Please use a trackable service so nothing is lost on its way back.

Damages & issues

If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days of delivery (photos help). We’ll send a replacement or issue a full refund, including shipping.

Exchanges

The quickest way is to return the item for a refund and place a new order.

Non-returnable items

Because of the nature of our books, the following items cannot be returned:

  • Custom cover books (made specifically for you — unless we made a mistake on our end)
  • Books that have been used (any book with writing, tracing, or wear)

Pre-orders

You may cancel any pre-order at any time before shipment for a full refund.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 10 business days. (Your bank or card company may take a little longer to post the refund.)

International Returns

We happily accept international returns within 14 days of delivery. Return postage is the buyer’s responsibility.

  • Original shipping charges, customs duties, and import taxes are not refundable.
  • Please mark the parcel “Returned goods” on customs forms to avoid extra charges.
  • If a package is refused/undeliverable and returned to us, we can either reship (postage cost applies) or refund the product price (less the original shipping).

EU Customers — 14-Day Right to Cancel

If your order ships to the EU, you may cancel within 14 days of delivery for any reason.

To begin, email hello@tracethelivingword.com with your order number and the word “Withdrawal” in the subject. We’ll reply with return instructions.

Refunds include the product price and the cost of standard outbound shipping. Return postage is the buyer’s responsibility. Please use a trackable service and mark the parcel “Returned goods.” Refunds are issued within 10 business days after receiving the return in new condition.

When will I get my order?

We do our best to ship your order as quickly as possible. Once your order is on its way, you’ll receive an email with tracking details so you can follow its journey.

  • Books we keep in stock usually ship the next business day.
  • Custom made-to-order books are made to order and ship within 3–5 business days.
  • Don’t worry, as soon as your order ships, you’ll get a notification.

Shipping options

To help keep costs low, we offer USPS Media Mail for all books. Media Mail is very affordable and includes tracking at no extra cost, but delivery is slower — typically 2–8 business days depending on your location. It’s a wonderful option if you’re not in a rush.

If you’d like your order sooner, you’ll also see faster shipping methods available at checkout.

Where are your products made?

We print and bind everything in house at our studio in Orange, California. Whenever possible, we source paper and cover stocks made here in the U.S., and we also partner with local companies for specialty processes like covers and finishing. This helps us support our community and reduce our shipping footprint.

What Bible translation do you use?

We use the King James Version (KJV) exclusively. Every word is printed exactly as it appears in the KJV.

For our Old Testament editions, the text is arranged with line breaks inspired by the cadence of the Hebrew, so you can trace Scripture word by word in a slower, more contemplative rhythm.

For the New Testament editions, we will preserve the exact KJV text without applying Hebrew cadence, keeping the formatting simple and faithful.

Will you be releasing more books of the Bible?

We are unable to accept returns on certain items. These will be carefully marked before purchase.

Do the books lay flat for tracing?

Yes! All of our books are bound with Wire-O binding, which means they lay completely flat on your table or lap. We also chose to bind them at the top, rather than the side, so that both left-handed and right-handed writers can trace comfortably without the binding getting in the way.

What pens or pencils work best for tracing?

You can trace with whatever feels most comfortable for you. Many people enjoy using a smooth pen or gel pen, while others prefer a pencil for a lighter touch.

We chose this paper very carefully: it’s lightweight yet specially made to resist bleed-through. Writing on it feels smooth and fluid, unlike any other paper we’ve tried. This makes it a joy to trace with pens, pencils, or even gentle highlighters.

You can also use highlighters to mark or emphasize certain words.

Here are a few we personally recommend:

  • ✒️ Sharpie S-Gel 0.5mm, smooth and precise for daily tracing.
  • ✒️ MCNTEIK Matte Black Forest Rollerball Pen, a luxury pen with some weight, wonderful if you enjoy a pen that feels substantial in your hand.
  • 🖍️ Twohands Highlighter Pastel Set, soft colors that highlight beautifully without overpowering the page.
